Another good quarter from Chris Van Hollen. From the Post tonight:
Chris Van Hollen’s (D-Md.) topped $1 million in the hotly-contested primary race against his House colleague Rep. Donna F. Edwards (D-Md.) to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) in the U.S. Senate.
Van Hollen is poised to widen the cash gap with Edwards, who has struggled to raise the same kind of money but has shown some strength in recent polling.
The congresswoman’s campaign has not yet released its fourth-quarter numbers.
In total, Van Hollen’s campaign is reporting it raised $1.14 million, nearly 80 percent of which came from Maryland donors representing every county and the city of Baltimore.
“This underscores Chris’s deep support with voters, who know that he is committed to fighting for Maryland families and has a proven track record of success,” the campaign said in a statement Monday.
Van Hollen now has nearly $4 million in cash on hand, some of which political experts say he will need to spread his message in communities where he is not as well-known.
Now we wait for the Edwards numbers.
